Hello.
I wanted to make a copy of and old CD. I copied its files in my laptop, then I inserted a blank CD. I closed optical drive tray, CD started spinning but I noticed that tray isn't fully closed. I released it. Motor stopped but CD was still spinning. I fully opened tray and closed it. CD started spinning as usual but after a few moments, it stopped spinning! I tried to open tray but button didn't open it. So I opened tray by putting a pen in its hole. I opened windows explorer but there was no CD drive.
As I understood, optical drive doesn't receive any power. And problem is by itself. Because I replaced it temporarily and laptop recognized the new one.
My questions are:
1- Which part can the problem be from?(SATA port, flat cable or...)
2- If I can't fix it, should I buy a new optical drive or replace it with a caddy?
3- Can I replace it with a caddy, insert my hdd in caddy and put a new ssd instead of hdd?(Is my notebook compatible?)
Please don't send " I have this problem, too! " or something like it.
My optical drive is Hitachi-LG GUA0N 2013.
