So I bought this laptop in Jan 2017, it came with 16gb ram and I was happy with it and never bothered to upgrade. I finally went ahead and bought Kingstone Hyper X 16gb (8gbx2) kit to upgrade my ram to 32gb. I turned put the ram on, turn the laptop and I got black screen (no beep, just black after after power on). I took one of the ram off (now total 24gb) and it worked fine. I tried both ram in the 3rd slot and it booted fine. However everytime I place a ram on the 4th slot (totaling 32gb) I get the black screen. 

Any help/advise is appreciated. I have 2 weeks of warranty left, is it better off to contact acer support?

  • Have you checked that the problem persists when you only connect one memory in slot 4? Leaving other slots free!

    What are the chances that it'll work? The other two factory occupied slot is inside the laptop and I'll need to do almost a full disassembly for it to work. Can give it a go on my day off, however gives that I still have 2-3 weeks warranty left is it advisable to disassembly?

    t seems to be a problem in the slot! As your notebook is still in the warranty period, it may be best to send it to the Acer service center so they can check the problem! What version of bios is installed?
