First of all, my laptop is Predator helios 300 (Predator PH315-51)

When I use it to play some games like GS:GO, Rainbow 6 Siege or sth like that, it does give a very nice performance.
But sometimes, usually played after 15~20 mins, the fps will drop into around 15~35 depends on wt game i was playing. And it will last lasted around 1 to 2 mins until it became normal.

When this phenomenon happened, not only the GTX 1060's fps will drop, but also the Intel's graphic card.

And I found that when the fps drop, the Battery Indicator will turn to amber and flash until the fps become normal.
Also if I replug the the charger, the fps and Battery Indicator will become normal immediately.

And I only play games when this laptop is charging. Can anyone find a solution for me please?

Btw I think the Battery Indicator will turn to amber and flash is the key of the problem.

So here's an update after near 1 year.
To find what is happening, i downloaded some softwares to monitor my laptop. Then I found sth from XTU.
This problem only happen when XTU say there is a Power Limit Throttling, then I try to undervolt my cpu by changing the Core Voltage Offset to -0.160V.
Now I have tried it over 5 months and that problem seems to be fixed.

However this "fps drop" situation happens again when I join the BETA test at Ghost Recon: breakpoint, then I check XTU again and it said Power Limit Throttling. So this time I try to undervolt my cpu to its limit(means it will work fine and won't shut my laptop down), which is -0.190V.
It has been a few days and everything is fine. At lease for now. So I guest it is cpu power limit problem?

With the 135watt charger, the battery must be near 100% charged and plugged in BEFORE you start heavy power-hungry gaming. If the battery still discharges, you must get the more powerful 180watt charger. Jack E/NJ

For the GTX 1060 you should have a 180w adapter check if your adapter is 180w by multiplying the volts by the amps

No it's not because of adapter and it's rating. My friend and I have same laptops with same adapter rating but I am getting the above problem.  I think there is another reason.Do please help me out?

Your friend probably is fully charging the battery and plugged in before starting to game. However, you're really trying to compare apples with oranges even for the exact same laptop because you don't know what software is running in the background on either machine at any one time, his screen brightness settings, attached peripherals running etc, how he plays the games even if they are the same game. You should exchange laptops with him to see if he gets the same issues as you seem to get. Jack E/NJ

  • I agree with colleague JackE. However, you also try to disable batteryboost in the nvidia graphics card settings.

VoidSSX why wont you use TS to undervolt instead of xtu because xtu its not stable most of the times the settings will not stick and it will most probably conflict with the xtu PS attached service just download a ready TS conf for you cpu and youre good to go your dont need to be messing up with any settings

Well I'm not familiar with these software. I will try TS from now on and see if it will change sth.

AdithyaPapa as @JackE said above you cannot compare 2 laptops even if they are the same specs/model they might/might not behave the same there are too many variants to consider as it was already mentioned above

No  AdithyaPapa   Not just adapters. That won't prove anything. You must exchange the whole system with your friend so that the systems are both tested against your way of playing games and using the computer versus your friend's way of playing the games and using the computer. Jack E/NJ
