Battery issue, Aspire V15 Nitro

So about a week ago my laptop stopped powering on unless it's plugged in. I've used a pin and hit the battery reset button and let it charge overnight and it seemed like it was back to working normally, however today while I was using it unplugged it shut off with 50% battery left and wouldn't boot back up (it would start up and shut off immediately). Everything looks normal when it's plugged in, but if I unplug it now it'll work for about 30 seconds and shut down without warning.

I've downloaded the Acer Care app and it says my battery health is good. I've ordered a replacement battery on Newegg (from Acer), but just wanted to make sure that's what I need to do. Is there anything else that could be causing this issue? Windows and my drivers are all up to date.

Probably not. But you could open Device Manager. Click on batteries folder. Then uninstall Microsoft ACPI-compliant control method, exit and reboot to let Windows auto reinstall it. But it sounds to me like the old battery was charging up too quickly to its voltage max, then discharging too quickly to its voltage min. In automotive battery lingo, "it couldn't hold a charge". A new replacement battery is more likely to solve your problem than uninstalling the charger control driver. So I think you did the right thing. Jack E/NJ
