Fitting SSD? ACER - Nitro N50-600-29 Intel® Core™ i31 TB HDD

I recently brought a new pc so I could start gaming again, everytime I start Steam I get 100% drive, I’ve brought the m2 ssd stick to speed it up I’ve never actually fitted one before but I did already buy the drive which was recommended by the staff.

My pc is:
ACER - Nitro N50-600-29 Intel® Core™ i3 GTX 1050 Gaming PC - 1 TB HDD

The ssd I got was: 512GB Intel 660P M.2 PCIe 3.0

I can’t find any diagrams on the internet about the board and where it might be located.

i have one suspect location, but I think something is already plugged into it and I was wondering if you can put the ssd in the other side as there is a screw hole for it.

Can anyone help?

Hi,
The slot is located by the side of power connector.

Thank you I got it in, now when I boot up it get a message that says “reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected device and press any key” not sure what this means?

there was a 16gb intel octane in the slot. Should I put the blue rubbery thing on the on the old ssd onto the new one?

Hi,
Yes, it's a thermal pad, place it like in the second snip in my previous post, could you please go to BIOS move to Main tab and switch to AHCI for SATA mode and see whether you are able to migrate the OS to the new SSD from HDD.

What key do you press when I hit delete i this screen I do have left/right options but none State the information above

I have found it now when it rebots says we encountered a problem and it restarts

Windows is giving me a 80004001 error code, and has given me this screen, the start up and repair doesn’t work. I feel like I might need to reinstall Windows but I don’t know how to, without a CD and I don’t think I got one with this

Hi,
Do you have the Operating system in your HDD? If yes, you have to migrate the system to the new SSD, that's all you have to do. I have posted my BIOS screen as an example because it's from another model, hang in there, I'll check and come back.
OK, could you please move to this page and post the picture of it, Boot options tab.

You also have to find this page under Advanced tab, click "RST with Optane" and check whether you have AHCI option, if you have it, then select it.
If you don't know how to deal with BIOS settings get help from a professional, a laptop/pc repair shop.

I’m not sure if it was on the SSD I presumed it didn’t have one when I started.

Hi,
Do you still have the OS in HDD as well? If so, remove the HDD and try starting the PC with only SSD, how did you transfer the OS to the new SSD?

I haven’t transferred anything at any point before or after the fitting of the new ssd. Only at the stage of fitting did I notice there was an Intel optane 16GB SSD already fitted because of that I presumed the OS would be on the HDD. If you know of any instructions on how to check these things, I’m more then capable of carrying out the tasks.

By removing the HDD, do you mean unplug?

if it turns out that my OS was on the SSD I’ve taken out can it placed back in then mirgated to HDD?

Hi,
OK, you haven't transferred the OS, so leave the HDD in the PC, now follow these steps to transfer the contents of HDD to new SSD.
1.Download and install Minitool Partition wizard free program.
2.Run the program and use Migrate feature to transfer the contents of HDD to SSD.
3.Then go to BIOS, move to Boot Options tab, highlight SSD to move it to first boot option, you can do this by highlighting the SSD, press F6 to move to first boot device position.
Reboot and see whether it boots with the SSD or you can take out the HDD from the PC and try.

I’m unable to access windows, it will restart until I get a repair code 80004001, I get the blue screen shown above none of the repair options work, should I put the old ssd back in? And move it to HDD?
