I've forgotten my Acer Chromebook 15 log-in password how do I reset to make anew one?

Use the Google homepage to reset your password.

You will need to do a Powerwash (factory reset).

1. Sign out of your Chromebook.
2. Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift + r.
3. Select Restart.
4. In the box that appears, select Powerwash Continue.
5. Follow the steps that appear and sign in with your Google Account. ..

The "Seasoned Specialist" is completely wrong. Those directions will not only get you nowhere but cause you a HUGE amount of effort.

Powerwashing will not recover a password. What it WILL DO is make it impossible to use the Chromebook until you find out your password another way, or create a new GMail account to complete the initialization of the Chromebook. Then you'll have a Chromebook but no access to your saved data until you can reset your GMail password.  THEN you'll need to do another Powerwash to make yourself the Primary machine user.

To recover a GMail account:

Sign into the Chromebook as guest.
Using the Chrome browser, go to www.google.com
Start to sign in. 
Below the email field there is a"Forgot password" link. Click it.
Enter your recovery phone number or recovery email account address( usually your ISP email).
Follow the instructions in the phone call or email message.

You are factually correct, but it is totally unnecessary to resort to an ad hominem attack to make your point.  Disagreeing does not give you the right to be disagreeable.

You could simply login as a guest and reset the google account password or else you can also make use of any other devices ( Laptops, desktops, or smartphones) to reset the password. Once done, simply restart the device and enter the new password this should take care.
