Replacing G1-710 2TB Data Drive

It appears that the 3.5 inch SATA 2TB data drive (D:) has failed and is no longer recognized by the OS. I wish to remove and replace the drive, but the manual only show how to remove the 2.5 SSD drive in a single drive configuration (pages 66-72 of the manual). I have contacted ACER technical support and they insist there are no upgrade instructions for replacing the 2TB drive. I have searched the Internet and YouTube and have found nothing. Acer suggests that I take the Predator to a professional (that is what I am). Any of the tech shops I deal with will ask for the manual. I know I can figure this out, but always prefer a manual. Somewhat surprised that Acer will not provide the technical data for an expensive device.

It's pretty easy, pull the side panel off and then take out the four screws holding the HDD mount in place. Pull out enough to deal with the cables and the rest should be obvious.

Are you referring to the HDD/ODD assembly - it continues the optical drive, the m.2 SSD and the 2TB HDD (the bad data drive). The HDD mount for a 2.5 inch drive, which is separate, is empty. It comes out easy, the OOD/HDD assembly does not appear to be easy. Am I incorrect?

Corrected for typographical error: Are you referring to the HDD/ODD assembly - it contains the optical drive, the 500GB m.2 SSD and the 2TB HDD (the bad data drive). The HDD mount for a 2.5 inch drive, which is separate, is empty. It comes out easy, the OOD/HDD assembly does not appear to be easy. Am I incorrect?

Here's a picture of the screws:

Then when you have it lifted a bit it'll expose the SATA and power connectors that allow it to come the rest of the way.

That is not the correct location. If you look carefully at the picture, there is nothing there. You can add a third drive to the Predator in the location. The C: drive and the

drive are adjacent to the 2.5nch hard drive in assembly with the optical drive - location #4 on this picture - the HDD/ODD assembly. 4 screws for that one also, but removal does not appear simple.

OK, I see what you mean. You still have to pull that one first in order to access the cables. Once the cables are out of the way you pull those four screws to release the bracket which lifts up. There are more screws to release the ODD, but shouldn't need to deal with them to do the HDD.
