Hi. I've bought an acer aspire 5 515-51G-576W which has an IPS display and no backlit. The thing is, when i went to check it out, i was expecting the opposite ( a backlit keyboard and a TN panel). i was wondering if the keyboard can be replaced with a backlit one. I have found several ones over ebay for like 20-25 dollars, but im not sure if it's going to work.

Replacing the keyboard is moderately difficult because it's easy to break the touchpad & power connectors if you are not careful.  If the silver frame is held in by plastic grommets that would add to the difficulty.  In the video below, the silver frame is secured by screws.  The video is not your exact model, but it is the closest one I could find.  Verify with the vendor regarding compatibility before you order the new keyboard. Any damage to the device will void the warranty.

The A515-51G mainboard is the same for all CPUs and supports backlit keyboards. Connector JBL1. Google "a515-51g" and "backlit keyboard" without the quotes for sellers/vendors. Jack E/NJ
