    (1) What is your full swift model number? SF31?-???  (2) If the BIOS info tab neither detects nor identifies the evo, it may be defective. Jack E/NJ

Model number of my laptop is SF315-41. No the drive can't be defective.

Because i had tried two different drives. first i thought it might be defective, so i returned and replaced it on amazon. but the second one was also not recognized.

Sorry the 970 m.2 nvme card has had issues with being backward compatible in many mainboards with m.2 SATA3 slots. While the 970 should be recognized, it often isn't. Accordingly, it's usually safer and less expensive to use a plain vanilla m.2 SATA3 card since your mainboard only supports SATA3, not nvme, speeds. Jack E/NJ
