Hi Gang
I don't use Chrome or Explorer much - Was wondering if an upgraded Aspire 722 with Windows 7 HP - 4G Ram - 320 SSD - could handle Fire Fox Browser using Malwarebytes?
Thank You

Good. No BIOS firmware updates should be needed on a functional machine. A piece of tape takes care of the camera. Jack E/NJ

Open Control Panel. Search Windows Update. Left side look for item "turn auto updating on or off. Jack E/NJ PS: Don't let it install the AMD update package even though it's labelled as important. It causes problems with some AO722  systems.

I'm using FF on my AO722 right now, same config as yours 4GB RAM. Forget malwarebytes --- uninstall it. Windows defender is all you need. Jack E/NJ

Uncompressed sizes: Internet Explorer 28-53 mb, Chrome 30.3 mb, Firefox 15-17 mb.
Firefox has myriad extensions & add-ons.  Or it can be minimalist.
It is important to disable third party cookies.  Before knowing this, credit cards were stolen.  For bill paying, it must be enabled temporarily.

This explains the difference between Microsoft Security Essentials & Windows Defender. If Malwarebytes is only a free trial, then download Microsoft Security Essentials & SuperAntiSpyware & run both in Quick Scan mode. Used Symantec previously, but got a piece of malware that had been enabled by Netflix. SuperAntiSpyware resolved the problem that Malwarebytes (when it was free) did not.
Another advantage of Linux Mint is that anti-virus & anti-malware are unnecessary until there are enough Linux users for miscreants to begin writing malicious codes.

Hi Guys - Nice to see you again - Just downloaded SuperASW, MSE & FF (will install in Acer). BTW there were a few Bios/Firmware patches I avoided and anything that had to do with the camera or other devices I won't be using.
    Thanks again!
