I purchased the Nitro 5 53 model (i5 with 1050 TI) from Best buy this last week.  I really like it and it fits exactly my needs, but I am concerned with the temperatures.  I am using a cooling pad, and even with that... while playing Civ 5, temperatures reach up 90+ C.  Normally in the high 80s, but going up to low 90s happens.  This is just on Civ 5.

I read about undervolting and tried with Throttlestop & Intels, and neither seem to make any difference in the temp.

I have read about repasting, but I sure don't want to break anything.

What should I do?

Nothing. Anything below 95*C at full load is normal for these 'hot' new machines.  :) Jack E/NJ

Disabling turbo boost or undervolting can significantly decrease the heat output,
but disabling turbo boost might impact games that are CPU bound such as GTA V etc.

But with turbo boost disabled, you're looking at 70-80 degrees centigrade while underload, Turbo boost disabled + Undervolting = 70-78 degrees max.

If you've disabled turbo or undervolted, tell us if there is any change or if you need more help.
