Calling B*llsh*t on the Acer parts supplier in Australia! (HDD Bracket/connector Kit for aspire 5)

I recently contacted Acer support centre to ask where I can source the HDD bracket and connector for my laptop in Australia due to the Acer US website only offering shipment to domestic US addresses.
On that US website (link below) I would be able to purchase a bracket and the connector (that looks identical to the one I was told by Acer to use) for the low price of $8.00usd (roughly $11.25aud) and receive free shipping to any US address.

Well I contacted the Australian parts supplier "Infinity Computer IT Service" in Melbourne. They were very friendly and quick to reply to my email, but the pleasantries stopped there.
They quoted the following:
1 x Acer 33.GP4N2.002 HDD BRACKET // Item: $45.45 + GST: $4.55,    Total: $50.00
1 x Acer 50.GP4N2.004 HDD CABLE // Item: $45.45 + GST: $4.55,    Total: $50.00
1 x Delivery // Item: $15.00 + GST: $1.50,  Total: $16.50
--------------------------------------
Total Net Amount: $105.90aud
Total GST Amount: $10.60aud
Total Amount: $116.50aud

When I see this for the first time, 3 things run through my mind:
1. Very convenient that both products I wanted ended up being $50 each exactly.
2. Just the shipping alone is more expensive than both the products if I sourced from the US.
3. No freaking way am I paying THAT for a aluminium plate the size of a coaster and a 10cm cable!

My main concern at this point is that the parts listed on the Acer US website don't specify that the parts would work with my Model of laptop (A515-51G-859W), however both models that are listed as compatible are "A515-51G" aspire 5 models and therefor must have almost identical builds as mine. Unfortunately the Acer US website doesn't specify the individual part numbers of both the bracket and connector, instead using a combination "kit" part number.
A little more searching and I manage to find an IT supplies Website based in Canada (link below) that sells the same kit from the Acer website but specifies the individual part numbers as well as the kit part number. No surprises but they are the exact same as the ones I was told by Acer to source for my model (and was later quoted more than the hard drive I will be putting in it. FFS!)

MY SOLUTION: I will be buying the kit  from the Acer website for $11.25aud, but sending via a US-to-Australia postal forwarding company for $28.27aud, bringing my total to $39.52.
$40 is not ideal in the best of worlds and I still think its over the top but it is much better that the ridiculous price I was quoted.
So I guess moral of the story is assess every option, say no to BS, and don't just pay the typical Aussie rip off.

Cheers!

A plain vanilla laptop SATA 2.5" HDD flex ribbon and some antistat foam to immobilze and protect the drive inside the case might've also done the job for you. I don't bother with HDD frames or 9.5mm adapters in laptops. Too crowded inside them already. Jack E/NJ
