What does DriverSetupUtility do? And what may happen if I uninstall it?
A while back, I uninstalled 'Acer Care Center'. It was causing trouble and I was advised not run it, that it is optional software. I see (in 'Control Panel','Programs and Features') that 'DriverSetupUtility' is still installed. And I see (from threads revealed by 'Process Explorer') that it's using some 'Care Center' routines. I also see that 'LiveUpdateChecker.exe' is part of it, and that 'c:\Program Files\DriverSetupUtility\FUB\LiveUpdateChecker.exe' runs often.
What does DriverSetupUtility do? And what may happen if I uninstall it?

I'm having driver difficulties that have prompted me to investigate.
My Predator was delivered with various versions of the same drivers in various directory locations.
I know that, when it detects driver problems, Windows can go to 'c:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\' and revert drivers. And I know that when FileRepository contains overlapping '.inf' directories (i.e., multiple folders that cover the same driver), Windows can make a mistake. The result of the mistake can break the system in ways that are difficult or impossible to detect.
To make things worse, I've found FileRepository drivers with differing '.sys' files -- a '.sys' file is the actual driver -- but with the SAME version number. So, you see, this potentially can lead to a serious quandry. Because it's serious, I ask folks not to speculate based on the name "DriverSetupUtility" because 'driversetuputility.exe' runs quite often, not simply when drivers are installed. However, I don't know what will happen if I uninstall it.
