Will the fans still regulate heat without predator sense?

ATR42ATR42 Posts: 54Member Devotee
Predator Sense is leaking memory like crazy.
If I remove it, will the fans still modulate automatically to control heat? Not sure if this is built into hardware or the software

for some reason I had v xxx.3005 installed of predator sense. When I went back to the support website, the version I needed was xxx.3004. So far so good with the 3004 iteration.

If we set a custom fan value, but the system needs more cooling, will it bump the fans up over the custom setting if needed?

If you have auto and coolboost enabled the fans will auto regulate themselves to cope with the temps if you have it custom i think they will not go over of what you had setup my advice is leave it on auto and coolboost enabled works fine for me and if i would needed more (which i don't) i would just use max they go both up to 6100+

The memory leak issue can be fixed by changing a Killer Network service. I posted a how to fix in my Helios 500 review pinned to the top of this forum (Predator Laptops).

Also be sure to update to the latest BIOs as Acer has unlocked package power limits via ME update and the latest P Sense compliments that change.

BUT to answer your question, yes the BIOs has its own fan curve and will have its own auto fan setting without predator sense installed.

much appreciated guys, im pretty sure the BIOS is up to date.
I saw the post about killer network services, I didnt understand how an unrelated process would cause a memory leak in another process so I disregarded it. I did terminate the "killer network services" though, uninstalled the extra app and tools, just leaving the drivers for the NIC. So far so good....

Its because P Sense shows network up/down speeds in the monitoring tab I think the system tab? Anyway thats where I found the leak. The service fails to run because its already running so it keeps attempting to run even tho its active, the accumulated processes started builds memory. So disabling it to auto restart (cause its already running) fixes it.
