Hi All,

I am facing a problem with Acer Nitro AN515-51 (5 months old). Whenever I play any intensive games like F1 2017 or Dirt rally etc, laptop freezes completely. To resume, I have to remove the power cord and connect it again. Otherwise laptop remains frozen until I do a hard reset. This has been happening from 1st month of the laptop.
On removing power cord, laptop unfreezes and resumes. This is more prevalent with F1 2017 and less so on CS:G0 or lighter games. Even setting the FPS limit to 60 doesn't help.
What could be the issue and how do I get this fixed?

    Also verify that your battery is near fully charged and plugged in before playing intensive games. Even 135watt chargers often can't keep up with charging a depleted battery, running cooling fans at full blast and playing intensive games at the same time. Jack E/NJ

    Thanks for the help..
    @egydiocoelho
    Already tried that, problem persists after restart.
    @JackE
    My original charger stopped working after 3 months, Acer support replaced it with 180w red pin charger. Battery is usually 100% when I start the games, so charging + gaming shouldn't be the issue.

    Since you mentioned it happens more during intense gameplay and less during lighter games or light use I am suspecting temperature might have something to do with this. When playing F1 or Dirt, what are your maximum and minimum CPU/GPU temperatures?

    When you remove the battery cord the laptop immediately switches to a lower power mode that down-clocks the CPU/GPU, among other things. This also immediately drops the CPU temperature significantly comapred to fullpower/maximum turbo boost. You may need to lower the temperatures a bit.
