    Hi,
Unfortunately, you can not upgrade both the CPU and GPU as they are soldered to the motherboard, CPU has support for only FCBGA socket and it means Ball Grid Array.

You do have a thunderbolt 3 port.. so another solution would be to have a eGPU setup with a 1080 etc from there.

You lose a bit of performance but it is still roughly the same performance as if you had upgraded to a mobile 1080 chip.

Sounds to me like you are not the kind of user that should be buying a laptop but a desktop. Laptops are typically far less able to be upgraded than desktops. You still have a very good laptop but it reads as if you are desperate to be within a year or so of the the bleeding edge of top-notch performance. With those expectations, you'll have to buy a new laptop every year or so or buy a desktop and keep upgrading.

i7 6 series... with a 1070... these two can go on for atleast another 2-3 years. My old laptop is an i-7 3 series and is still going strong.

What shortcoming are you seeing in your i7 that you want to get a new laptop? For most tasks we do we barely use even 50% of our CPUs.

Upgrading is a never ending process, if you get on to that path. By the way 1080 is not the latest anymore... 2080 is out.

There are fully upgradable laptops on the market but unless you have thousands of $/£ to spend on one which i doubt u would be better with a desktop or choose a higher more expensive laptop that suits you for a couple of years :)
