Hi guys,

I have an Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop.

So here is my observations. The speakers will be low almost all the time. At max volume, its very unimpressive. With headphones on, it varies depending on the application. When browsing the internet, or playing music, it will be very low on headphones, but when playing a game, the headphones are perfect, if not impressive.

I just watched a video right now on my web browser, and the speakers were LOUD. It finally sounded like what I felt like it should. It blew me away. I thought that since the Predator series was focused on gaming, that it just took away from making the speakers quality. I was wrong.

Is there some kind of way to diagnose the problem? How do I fix this?

    Hi ScareGhost89,
Please try the following steps to see if the settings for sound can be changed to enhance the sound .

How to Change the Sound Effects on Windows 10

To adjust the sound effects, press Win + I (this is going to open Settings) and go to “Personalization -> Themes -> Sounds.” For faster access, you can also right-click on the speaker icon and choose Sounds.

Under Sound Scheme click on the dropdown menu and choose between “Windows Default” or “No Sounds.” In Program Events you can go with a large variety of sounds. If you want to hear what the sound looks like under Sounds, click the “Test” button.

How to Adjust the Volume for a Particular App

Giving the apps you’re using their own personal volume level is an easy and quick task. Right-click on the speaker icon, select the Open Volume Mixer and the volume level for the apps you have open will appear. Just adjust the slider for each app accordingly, and enjoy your new volume settings.

How to Update Audio Drivers to Fix Problematic Audio Devices

Just right click speaker icon in system tray and select "volume mixer" and adjust the program(s) volume.

I have had a similar issue with my Acer laptop and observed that the speaker sounds a lot louder when the Battery saver is on. On checking further I observed that "Hey Cortana" was enabled and it gets disabled when the battery saver is off. Also, when the Battery Saver is on, if I go into Sound settings, the speaker volume is reduced - the reason for this is that the mic test is done in the Sound settings.

Solution that worked for me - Turn off "Hey Cortana" or any other apps that use the laptop's microphone.
