Hi. I just bought an Swift 3 SF315-52-52YN. It has a 1tb HDD. I tried to upgrade it to a 256gb SSD and it wouldn't boot. Do you have any advice?

  • Hi,
Are you replacing the 1TB drive with a 256GB SSD? If so, how did you migrate the contents of HDD to SSD? It's always advisable to use Migrate feature in Minitool partition wizard to transfer OS to smaller drives.

I'm in the same boat. I used partitionwizard. My Swift 3 (SF315-52) came with a 1 TB Hard Drive. I duplicated a Samsung 860 Pro 512 GB V-NAND SSD using partitionwizard. I'm unable to access the BIOS from POST. I can only access the BIOS using Settings>Recovery. I enabled accessing the boot menu using F12 during POST in the BIOS.  I can access the boot menu using F12 during post when the original hard drive is in but when I swap the drives the PC boots to the Acer splash screen and stops. I cannot access boot menu using F12 when the SSD is plugged in.

I'm not sure why my SSD will not boot. I do not know why I cannot access BIOS during POST. I do not know why F12 during POST only brings up boot menu with Hard drive and not SSD. I'm afraid to make any BIOS changes if I can only access the BIOS when Windows boots. I'm worried if I make a change to say the Sata Mode I wont be able to get past the Splash screen effectively bricking my new PC.

    Thoughts?
