PH-315-51-78NP, GTX 1060 and Intel GPU spiking to 100% use causing massive fps drops :(

Hi all! I've tried all the fps fixes I've found in the forums and nothing seems to work. Temps are all normal. Every 5 minutes or so BOTH the 1060 and Intel HD graphics show a spike to 100% load and clock speed on the 1060 tanks. This causes about 5 seconds of 5fps in games. Right before these spikes all temps are normal, load on the 1060 will only be around 40 to 50 %. I've tired rolling back NVIDIA drivers, doesn't make a difference. BIOS is updated, I've turned off windows defender, superfetching. Thank you for the help!!

Try reducing graphics settings to reduce load on CPU/GPU. Try undervolting of both CPU and GPU to get significant drops in temps.

1. download HWINFO, run it in sensor mode, and look at GPU Temperature and Fan Speeds,
2. likely your overheating, and may have to take video card appart and reapply heat paste between heatsink and gpu

Hi, my temps are Maxing out at 70C on the GPU so I don't think heat is the problem. I'm monitoring performance, everything is humming along just fine with stable load and temps, then boom, 100% load for a fraction of a second and the fps tanks.

What's your undervolting levels?

I haven't tried undervolting. My max CPU temp is 86C and max GPU temp is 70C during heavy use, my understanding is these temps are below temp throttling thresholds. Should I still be considering undervolting?

No no... I am not saying that. I was asking if you undervolted... cos undervolting too much also could cause these shut downs at high loads.

Oh, gotchya, no I haven't done any undervolting. Everything is running stock voltages. Any thoughts on why the Integrated Graphics GPU is showing a 100% load spike at the same time the 1060 is?
