I recently downloaded the demo for the upcoming Forza Horizon 4, only for an error to say that my graphics drivers were not updated enough. I have tried to download an update both through Windows itself along with through the Acer website but still get the same error. If someone could help me out with this I would greatly appreciate it.

    Hi @Carsonnn,

Good to know that you have tried to update in both the options provided. Appreciate your knowledge. Try to uninstall and reinstall the drivers from the device manager and check. try a restart. >>> if its still doing the same then try to delete the drivers from the device manager and try to install it from the acer site and then update it. Hope this will help you.

Assuming I did everything correctly, it doesn't seem that these fixes worked. The game will still give an error prior to even booting telling me that the driver is is not updated far enough. I will be the first however to admit that I am not the greatest when it comes to computer functions so it is possible that I simply didn't follow the directions correctly but otherwise it would seem that I am simply out of luck here.

    Hi,

Try to format the unit with the option 'keep my files'. you might loose the apps alone but the data and docs wont be deleted.

  • It could be a glitch in the demo as well.

You could try reinstalling Nvidia driver and choose "custom installation" then select "perform clean install" at the installation check list screen.

Also if your tweaking your Nvidia control panel settings prior to trying the game, try reverting all graphic settings to default or at the Nvidia icon spinning section of Nvidia control panel change that to "Let 3d application decide".

The offered solutions are not what's required here and to be honest seem really ignorant. My reason for saying this is that anyone who's spent time using PC's especially for gaming should know that Graphics Drivers are constantly being updated by the chipset manufacturers - ie. AMD for Radeon graphics and Nvidia for GeForce etc.  I have a G9-593 and am appalled that the only official video drivers offered by Acer are terribly obsolete 232 series (or 23.2xxx) when the current version that games are being written for are 416 or 417 (or 41.6xxx etc.).

This is a GAMING LAPTOP - yet Acer themselves seem ignorant of what's required to maintain the drivers to current standards!

I love the Laptop but am 110% DISAPPOINTED by how incompetent Acer themselves are. Now I know what to look for when I replace this Laptop and it wont be with an Acer LAptop again - instead I'll look for one that's as well built and basically capable as this Predator - but with a manufacturer who isn't incompetent with ongoing support.

Why do you want Acer to update the website with every single version of drivers released when all of the devices are compatible with generic drivers released?

As i already said in previous threads the stock drivers on acer support are customized drivers that will definitely work without any issues they were tested and customized for the purpose there is no need for them to update anything (they are not required to) as they work properly and driver updates especially gpu will only cause issues no one should update the gpu drivers if they don't need to as they are only release for us the guinea pigs to do the job for them the devs to find the issues for them to correct them in the next updates so again don't update any drivers if you don't have any issues and most of the times downgrading is the best solution and if you say acer is incompetent just because they don't have updated drivers.

Maybe too late to answer, but my stock drivers were having problems with G-Sync, generic Nvidia drivers solved them perfectly.

Yes stock drivers might have issues with G-sync and don't have whisper mode (only 1060+)  and to play some games like BF5 everyone is forced to update to 416 minimum as nvidia and the devs locked some of the games to those minimum requirements but i still say that overall the stock are the best stable drivers unless you are forced to update due to a missing feature or required by the game i would stay on stock
