Hi Ellemby

1. Try the Performance troubleshooter.
2. Delete programs you never use,If you have trial versions of any third party security programs installed, just get rid of it and see whether it fixes the problem
3. Limit how many programs run at startup.
4. Clean up your hard disk.
5. Run fewer programs at the same time.
6. Turn off visual effects.
7. Restart regularly.
8. Change the size of virtual memory.

Use the following steps to perform a clean boot in Windows 10.  

1. Sign in to the computer as an administrator. 
2. Click Start, and type msconfig.
3. Select System Configuration from the search results.
   
   
   

1. On the Services tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then tap or click Disable all.

4. Close Task Manager.
