Recently bought an Acer KG271 monitor to go with my new gaming PC. The monitor works when I connect it using the VGA cable to the motherboard. The problem I'm having is, I have a Nvidia 1080  graphics card installed but when I connect it to that using a HDMI cable, I get 'no signal'. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I'm new to pc gaming and this is me getting set up so apologies for the ignorance. Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
First try to check whether you have switched to HDMI from VGA on the monitor

Update the chipset drivers and graphics drivers from Acer website

Try unplugging then plugging the power cable of the TV or monitor

Try unplugging the power cable of the TV or monitor for a few seconds then plug it back in. This may work like a charm for you.

Disconnect all HDMI sources then reconnect them one at a time

If you have more than one HDMI sources connected, this solution may work for you. If you have only one HDMI source connected, skip this solution.

    Follow these steps:

    1) Unplug all TV/monitor from the HDMI ports .

    2) Unplug the power cable from the TV or monitor for about 10 minutes.

    3) Plug the power cable back in the TV or monitor.

    4) Plug one device to one HDMI port of your PC.

    5) Turn on the device.

    6) Repeat steps 4-5 for each device and HDMI port.

Try a factory reset on the TV/monitor

The final solution you can try is perform a factory reset on the TV/monitor.

Unplug all the cables that connects to the monitor including the power cable. Press and hold the power button on the monitor for 40 seconds than connect all cables and check.

Thanks very much for your reply! I've followed all the steps in your response but I'm still having the same issue. Could it be something to do with the gpu being too powerful for the monitor?

What is the make and model number of your device that is connected to your Acer monitor?
Also, check the resolution supported by the GPU HDMI port.

On the monitor, Open the On Screen Display control and Open the Input control and select HDMI or VGA.

If you still dont get the display, open device manager, expand display adapter, uninstall the graphics card driver. Shut down the computer, connect the monitor to the HDMI port, Restart the computer and check if you get the display.

Thanks for your reply, I was unable to get back to you sooner as I had sent my graphics card back to the company who built my PC for testing.

I have followed your steps on uninstalling the driver, however the only driver showing under 'Display adaptors' is Intel(R) HD Graphics 630. This may be because the only way I can get my monitor to work is by connecting it directly to the motherboard via VGA cable and not using the graphics card's HDMI port. It is impossible for me to get to this screen using the HDMI cable from monitor to PC as I just get 'no signal'.

That Device Manager screen should show the NVIDIA card. Is it not in the computer when you captured that image? If the card is installed there's likely either a problem with the card or the x16 slot on the motherboard.

The card is in the PC when I took the screen shot. I can only get the monitor to show a signal when I plug the VGA cable in to the motherboard.

Which says the card isn't working. It's not being recognized by the computer at all. Touch base with your vendor again, it's either a bad card or a bad motherboard. :(
