Install M.2 SSD on Aspire TC-865-NESelecti3

Hi,

I bought an Aspire TC-865-NESelecti3. It presently has a 1TB SATA HDD and DVDRW drive connected via SATA as well.

I would like to retain both those drives and add a M.2 SSD to use as my boot / OS drive.

I have a couple questions:

1. Can the TC-865 take NVMe storage?
2. If it can only take SATA III, are there any issues adding an SSD to the M.2 and keep the other two SATA devices?

I'm not having luck accessing a diagram showing the motherboard connections, but it is supposed to have two M.2 slots. Typically that means there is one for WiFi/Bluetooth and one for SSD. I've asked for clarification to verify that and to verify which SSD types it supports.

And I got the answer, the M.2 slot that's next to the processor is for WiFi, the M.2 slot that's by the power connector is for either an SSD or Optane memory.

Thanks, billsey. Regarding the M.2 slot but the power connector, does it use nvme or SATA? Is there anything that would help me identify and determine compatibility? Thanks again!

Parece-me que este modelo aceita sim ssd nvme! Confirme isso usando hwinfo64:

It should work fine with either SATA or NVMe, though the latter will be faster.
