Swift 1- SF114-32: won't detect m.2 SSD

Hey all. Based on advice from this thread: https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/550121/acer-swift-1-sf114-32-c4pz-upgrade-to-m-2-ssd#latest
I've purchased an m.2 Intel NVMe 760p SSD.

I've installed the drive and rebooted. Now, for the life of me I can't get it to detect the drive. Disk manager doesn't see it. The Intel SetupNVMe program won't detect it either.

I can't even find an option in BIOS to detect and manage drives.

What am I missing?

Thanks.

In fact, the controller supports both models! Although it solved the problem by changing the ssd for a sata 3!

Can you tell the serial number and ssd size?
Did you connect ssd correctly? Because the input of your notebook has keys B + M as in this photo!

    Hey, thanks for the response.
    It's 128GB.
I've installed it exactly as per the image, it's connected into the slot and I've added the screw at the other end.
    I'm not sure what keys B + M mean.
Do I need to do something to enable the NVMe slot?

Another question, where did you find that manual? Can you please provide a link?

Thanks, I had no idea about those. The SSD I have is an M key.
I'll need to double check when I'm back at home, but I believe the BIOS version is 1.01 or 1.00. Should I update this?

Oh wait, the slot on my board doesn't appear to be a B&M, it might be a B and perhaps I'm putting the M key SSD in upside down?

Can you tap a photo of the m2 2280 input of your motherboard and stay sharp?

Sorry, do you mean does the SSD sit tightly in the slot? If so, then it does seem be a little loose. It only stays in place if I put the screw in at the other end.

When I get home tonight, I'll open up the laptop again and will take a photo of the installed drive. That might help us work out if I have the wrong type of key upside down.

Hey. So an update now. I've successfully updated the BIOS to the latest 1.03.
Here is an image of the installed SSD. It does appear that it's actually an M key slot to match the M key SSD, because there are 5 pins on the short side.

    I'm stuck.

  • Do you have some photos of the bios settings from the information section to the boot section, both in uefi and legacy mode?
    Check this also:

The Maximum Width Link is set to 4x.

    Here are the BIOS images:
(I rebooted via the Windows advanced restart for the UEFI option and also F2 on startup, these were both the same settings).

I've noticed in the PCI Express results that the Current Width Link is set to Not Negotiated. Does this mean anything?

When you activate the bios key f12 and then press the f12 key when turning on the notebook, is ssd recognized?

I tested that just now and it only showed the main EMMC drive. No sign of the SSD.

Make sure creating a password in setsupervisorpassword enables some extra function!
What I find strange is that on the ssd page, in its specifications shows pcie nvme 3.1x4:

    Hi.

We have to look, if your equipment is compatible with the NAND TLC memory, it is very strange that it is not, but not impossible, let me confirm it.

    Regards. ;)

  • I think it's the problem with eMMC drive, you could try disabling it to test whether it's the problem, go to BIOS, move to Advanced tab, click SATA Configuration and disable eMMC and check whether it makes any difference, you won't be able to boot but you can enable it latter.
