Hi I am using acer aspire E1-531 (2012 model) my motherboard model is EA50_HC_HR. My laptop has a ddr3 10600 2gb ram in purchase.
I want to upgrade my ram, can I mix the 2gb 10600 with another 4gb 12800 ram and make it 6 gb ?

You "can", but it may cause major instability. It is good to have the same manufacturer and revision, but if you set them both down to the lowest settings, for example, 1333, 9-9-9-24, 1.5v or whatever the slowest is speed for, they should run fine. I wouldn't run a pair with 1600 and another with 1333 though.

This model has 2 Sockets and  maximum supported memory is 8GB.
The DIMM type should be SODIMM with DIMM Speed DDR3 1066/1333,  DIMM voltage 1.5V and 204 Pin DIMM package
Some of the officially supported 4 GB memory modules are listed below:

  • Hi,
Most probably the faster RAM will downclock to match the slower RAM, make sure that both are of same voltage.

Yes, it can affect some applications that are RAM dependent  and thereby the performance of your computer.
