Upgrades available for Aspire A515-51-50CI

Hi,

Looking to add a SSD to this laptop. I've ran the crucial scanner tool and there is this one available

CT11201200

250GB 2.5-inch internal SSD • SATA 6.0Gb/s • 560 MB/s Read, 510 MB/s Write

I'd like to know if it replaces the standard 1TB HDD or can I install it as a 2nd drive and still keep the HDD. Do I need any additional cables, brackets etc. The Acer manual doesn't have any information regarding this upgrade.

Finally, I also want to upgrade the memory from the standard 8GB to 12GB. Again the Acer manual doesn't contain any memory specs. The crucial scanner tool shows me two 8GB modules available but with different speeds.

Do you know which one I need to choose. I have no idea what speed the 4GB soldered memory chip is or what my system will accept.

As my fellow members stated above, you can install a M.2 SATA SSD, transfer the OS and Data from the HDD to it, then use it as the boot drive and use the HDD for storage. You don't need any cables for M.2 SSD installation, it's similar to installing a memory module, insert the M.2 SSD at an angle, push down it gently and secure it with a screw.

An m.2 SATA SSD card can be added to the mainboard. But a 2.5" SSD must replace the 2.5" HDD. Any DDR4 equal to or faster than 2.133 GHz should work fine. Jack E/NJ

Does the M2 SATA SDD require any additional cables etc or is it just a straight fit. And out of the 2 example memory upgrades above which CL is best 17 or 19

Need to get the kit which has the screws and the bracket to fix. ofcourse you need to get cables
