Did I kill my laptop? (Acer Aspire E15, E5-575G-53VG)

i have an Acer Aspire E15, E5-575G-53VG. My screen was ruined (someone put pressure on the open screen) so I ordered a new one and went to replace it myself. As I was taking the old screen out I fumbled it and accidentally turned the laptop on, then pressed and held the power button to turn it back off immediately. Changed the screen and now it won’t turn on. Put the old one back, nothing. Did the reset pin thing 5 times, nothing. It was just working fine before I went to change the screen. Did me turning it on while I was switching the screen mess something up? Is it worth getting t repaired? I got it 2 yrs and 3 days ago, so it’s out of warranty but not old enough to where I’d want to replace it already! Please help.

Because I was using it with the broken screen earlier in the morning yesterday. Also, when I accidentally hit the power button when removing the broken screen it came on and I saw my user login screen.

As long as you didn't try to disconnect anything from the screen's inverter board before you pressed and held the power button to turn it off, that alone probably wouldn't cause a problem. However, if the main battery was still connected to the mainboard while doing all this work, it's more likely a short to ground could've damaged component on the mainboard or other circuit. Did you see or hear any evidence for a small electrical spark? Jack E/NJ

No, I didn’t see/hear any sparks. This has never happened to me before, I must have changed a hundred screens but this is the first laptop I had with a non removable battery. I just didn’t properly power it off. It was confirmed today, motherboard fried. Luckily my SSD is still in tact, but it’s going to be expensive. Most likely worth it but I’m just **** that I did this to myself! Thank you for your help!

How was this determined? The part# seems to be NB.GEA11.002. Yes, I agree, likely will be costly if you can find one even used. While this model's ACER driver updates seem to be keeping pace with the rapid-fire major Win10 releases, I'd probably also shop around for something newer while I'm looking for its mainboard replacement. I took it to my local repair shop, I need my files and I wanted to confirm it was the board before I did anything more. The part is about $300, even used! I paid $585 for the computer.. now I know a little bit about a little bit but I’m not sure what to do here. I loved this laptop but honestly as long as I can access the things on my SSD that’s all I care about. If I get a new one would I just put it in a case and use it externally? Idk. I don’t really like external drives, it’s clunky. I don’t know how to get a laptop w/o a drive without having to piece one together totally.

Good price. The SSD seems to be an m.2 SATA card, not a 2.5" SSD. Is this correct? Jack E/NJ

While I haven’t seen it with my own eyes I believe it’s the 2.5 SSD, not a card. The specs only detail a 256gb SSD.

Hmmm? Usually came with either a 1 or 2TB HDD plus a card. A vendor special maybe? Jack E/NJ

I got it from amazon. I saw where you could get the 1TB HDD but it had another option for the SSD which is what I wanted. I think I’m done with HDDs.
