i have an acer predator helios 300, temps are skyrocketing to the 80-90 degrees celcius range. elevating the laptop helps but not much with demanding games. are there any good cooling pads/cooling vacuums for the laptop? and for vacuums, are there any vacuums for rear fans like the ones on predator helios 300.

Have you tried undervolting your laptop? That helps reduce the temperatures.

If not, you can try undervolting it using Intel extreme tuning utility

Please remember that the amount you can undervolt before running into stability issue might vary from one laptop to another.

undervolting it didnt help much either, im more convinced on buying a cooler fo the laptop, they only cost around 20-30 dollars anyway, im just asking which one is better for the helios, a vacuum cooler or a cooling pad

Oh if so, then I would recommend buying a cooler pad, I personally use a cheap one but It does it job

I use this, but turn it on only when playing heavy games --> https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NNMB3KS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also would help limiting FPS to 60 on a 60 Hz screen.

Are there more heavy duty cooling pads that can make a difference? Even if it's 3 degrees Celsius? I have to set my Predator Sense fans to max and it's hit a max of 83 Degrees C which I think might seem a little too warm. Any other cooling pad suggestions? Helios 300 is my laptop

So my Helios 300 was hitting 80-95 degrees right out the box.  After i called acer and had tried under volting had no joy. after looking at afew options. 3 things helped. i spoke with acer the predator is supposed to sit between 75 and 85 when under load according to them that's the acceptable limit. so i found limiting the cpus clock speed in power management setting helped it sat in the 60s when limited to 3.2 GHz anything over that it jumped into late 80s -90s. also at 3.2 limit i found i got lag on afew games so was not ideal. i ultimately repplyed the thermo paste with thermo grizzly by aeronaut. i got a 10 degree drop in tep which was great. so it peaked at 80 mark rather then 90 with no limit on the ghz to boot. playing demanding games i saw it still hit 85 degrees. i then got a cooling pad helped abit but not allot. i undervolted to -120 it still hit 84 degrees at a peak but stayed at 74 degree average wich i was happier with. the 84 degree mark was for a second or two but it would drop back. so i felt that was fine given what acer had said before. playing hi demand game ran consistent with this and i experience no frame dropping. so the key is get a good thermal paste, and undervolt a little to get consistent heat management. acer should consider a recall and give a slightly better cooling option as the fans looked a little wimpy for the job. I can probably drop the CPU back to 3.8 GHz and get better heat but I'm not concerned given it is now overall in spec.

Undervolt/optimize repaste (kryonaut or similar) its the way to go

Hey Red-Sand, can you help me with the values for Throttlestop for Intel core i5-8300h cpu and Nvidia 1060 GPU?

Removing the access doors for memory and hard drive expansion helped my temps a lot in conjunction with a 5 fan cooling pad, the fans blow air directly on the memory and into the laptop.

Order_66 bare in mind the battery kill switch that kills the battery from providing power to the mobo when you remove the ram cover so if you have that switch (i guess you might have) depending on your model you will have issues regarding the battery usage on high performance its not advisable at all to leave any compartment cover of the laptop open it might contain kill switches along the chassis and the compartments themselves to avoid short circuit when disassembling it so you should just optimize windows/undervolt and if still needed repaste with kryonaut or similar like everyone else this is the correct procedure to lower the temps
