Aspire R5 - System 'Pauses' for 10-20 seconds, then starts working again. Win10, nothing connected.

Hi, I have a year-old Aspire R5 laptop that has started 'pausing' for various times (10,20 seconds) then starts working again. It really started about 9 months ago, and I eventually reset the entire operating system in March. It went away, but has now started it again. Everything freezes (cursor, apps), although the buffer still accepts keystrokes for about 5 seconds. When it starts responding again, those keystrokes show up. When it first started happening again, it was about once every 2 hours or so. Now it's down to every 10 minutes or so. I have Task Manager open during 'pause' and the machine keeps 'refreshing'. I have searched everywhere, only finding older occurrences when folks migrated from Win8 to Win10. This machine started as a Win10 machine. I updated the BIOS back in December, and checked every driver. Anyone have an idea?

Hi,
You could try disabling fast startup in Power Options, right click battery icon and click Power options, click "Choose what the power buttons do" in the left pane, then click "Change settings that are currently unavailable", untick the box for "Turn on fast startup", click save settings and exit.
