Hi,
trying to update the firmware for Intel as per the article,
https://us.answers.acer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/51890The update for Aspire E5-575G has two parts, a ME driver update and a ME FW update. The ME update works as documented in the PDF.
The ME FW update relies on a file SKL_KBL_ME_Update_01.exe
but windows Defender detects that file as a Trojan Bitrep.A and removes it as soon as it is extracted.
I looked around the answers and googled it but don't see any other reports of this, either as a trojan or as a false positive.
I'd like a bit more assurance before running that file. The ME update ran an Intel update, not this sketchily-named SKL_KBL thing.
Any ideas ?
thanks, Doug
