External and Internal Microphones not working even though they show as working in settings

Hi. I'm having trouble with microphones. I'm going into the Sounds bit and making sure they're unmuted, and the volume is turned up high. The green bars are showing that the microphones are being heard. I'm also doing the microphone tests in Settings, and the bar is also showing that the laptop can hear me. Trouble is, any time I try and use Skype or Cortana, or anything else, the microphones are not being detected. This is happening with the internal Realtek one as well as some headphones with inbuilt mic. I've done a pretty extensive search online and followed the advice but haven't been able to find anything that helps once the Sounds and Settings tests and preferences have been done. I'm stuck as I need to work from home. Is it a driver issue? If so, which one? I can't understand why the laptop recognises the devices, as does the setup wizard, but no apps can hear me.

Go to start, settings, privacy, then click on microphone and camera click on change and then enable them, then select the applications and select the option enabled!

Hi. I tried that. The mic is turned on and all apps have permission to access it. Still no joy. I'm at a loss.

You can try this: plug the microphone into the notebook port and go to control panel and then on hd realtek audio manager and then click the black icon and select microphone headset!

One microphone is the internal one, and the other is inbuilt in some bluetooth headphones. Not sure what to do.

try this: If that does not work, use the driverbooster to update the notebook drivers!

That's the thing, the actual sound part of the headphones is fine, as are other bluetooth speakers. I've updated the drivers and even updated other drivers such as Intel, just in case it's something weird. I haven't a clue what it is. It's either something mind-blowingly simple or something horribly complicated.

Check out the sensitivity of the sounds and hit a photo of the problem, using the cortana and skype or make a video!

Cortana and Skype can't hear anything. I go through the 'set up the mic' procedure and nothing. The troubleshooter can't help either. I've updated my Acer drives and the Intel ones, and the Realtek ones. I'm really stumped. I think it's a trip to the repair shop at this rate. And thank you for trying to help me. I'm not sure what else there is to try!

Try this on! In Listen, select Realtek High Definition Audio! Put it to keep running on the battery and put it on +36 db levels! In power options, put on high performance!
