Aspire r5 touchscreen unresponsive in section

I have a 2-year-old Aspire R (R5-47IT-50UD), factory-installed with Win10. I've kept its BIOS, drivers, and Windows updated.

Recently, I've had a vertical strip near the left edge on my display lose its touchscreen ability, with occasional "freaking out" in that strip: touch "hits" display all across the strip, enlarging/closing web pages; trashing spreadsheet cells; opening desktop shortcuts; just overall being a gremlin. I've disabled/re-enabled touchscreen function (FN+F11), restarted and powered down the device. Nothing has restored the touchscreen along the strip.

Is there any further testing or processes I could do to restore this? If not, where could I find a reliable replacement display? (Does Acer offer repairs after warranty? The web page seemed to dead-end as soon as it realized I was out of the warranty window.) In my brief part searching, I found displays/digitizers for other 47IT-xxxx models, but not a 47IT-50UD.

I've attached an image of testing with MS Paint, using my finger to show the size and location of the inactive area.

Okay, I figured out where I dead-ended looking for repairs from Acer.

Still, any general touchscreen/digitizer knowledge or help with testing/diagnosing the touchscreen (or anything else I could do before I have to send it to Acer), as well as reliable part sources would be appreciated.

I apologize for the unhelpful bump, but can anyone offer some help on touchscreen freakouts for the Aspire R series? I just had a word-processing document and spreadsheet get trashed because the touchscreen weirded out again(ever since then, I've kept a separate backup of each document, because the touchscreen strip covers the Save button, causing any damage to be permanent). I don't have to be doing anything (or even near the laptop) for it to spontaneously flip out.

I didn't find anything in forum searches. Acer has responded to my repair quote request with their standard fee. Any preliminary help before resorting to send-off would be appreciated.

Or should I ask in the "Aspire, E and F Series Laptops" folder?
