No charging light / not turning on (motherboard problem) (Aspire E5-774-582T)
Hi there. Everything in my life is hitting the fan, and this seems to be the last nail in the coffin, so I'm hoping someone can help. I decided to purchase an Aspire E5-774-582T about six months ago. I was hoping, since I paid a lot of money, to utilize it for the next five years. After a couple months of purchasing it, I had a problem where it would shut down intermittently. Apparently after researching this was a common problem, a bracket had to be removed by the store I purchased it from, and it stopped shutting down intermittently.
Anyways, after a few months, and perhaps due to moisture in my room, I started to notice that on the right side of the computer the ports were rusted. Oh well, I thought.. everything was working fine. Next problem.. about a month ago, the ac adapter frayed at the end, so I wasn't able to charge it properly. I bought a stock AC adapter that worked for a while. However, yesterday, my computer would not get any charging light and wouldn't turn on. At first I thought it was the AC Adapter, but then I took it to a repair technician and he said that the motherboard is not powering and not getting any power. This is odd to me, because the ports rusted months ago, and it has been in a dry climate and hasn't gotten wet.
So, I'm at a point where I need to start doing damage assessment, and figure out what to do, trying to save as much money as possible. My question is, then, what do I do, at this point? Would ACER repair the computer if there is rust? Would it be incredibly expensive and even possible to replace the motherboard (I know computer repair, and could do it myself). Should I just buy a new computer? Don't want to throw away this expensive computer, and feel like an **** or that the universe cursed me. Secondly, I need this computer for school, so if I can get it repaired, what would I do in the spare time without a computer if I need one?
Thanks for reading, and hope someone can help.
