Cannot use Thunderbolt 3 device

Hello there,

I just bought an external GPU (Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080) and wanted to use it with my Acer Aspire VN7-792G but I'm facing a few issues.
The eGPU is supposed to be "plug and play", however when I plug the Thunderbolt 3 into my laptop, there's a message that says my computer may not be able to support the Thnderbolt device.

I tried to update the Thunderbolt manager, and also the firmware with no results. The "details" pannel keeps showing half of the information it should display:

and whenever I try to update the firmware (running the update as admin) it won't stop failing:
If anyone has a clue how to solve this, please let me know.
Thanks for your concern! ^^"
