Hi. I own an Acer Aspire-XC605 that I bought back in 2014. I have been facing some problems recently with the PC and would like to upgrade some parts, but the question is; what can I upgrade? I know that the case might be a problem but if someone could tell me what is compatible and such. I'm considering upgrading the graphics card, ram, hdd (to ssd) and the psu.

Specs:

CPU: i7-4790
GPU: AMD Radeon R7 240 (removed due to problems so now Intel HD Graphics 4600)
RAM: 8 GB DDR3
1 TB HDD
220 W PSU

Let me know if you need more specs on the PC and I will contribute if you need.

Thank you for the helpful answer. I am considering a MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gaming X but will it fit though? Will of course upgrade the PSU so the card will run.

Unable to comment on this card since it is not official tested by Acer.

Just about the RAM, I can upgrade to DDR4 right? I'm heavily considering to upgrade to 16 GB but I prefer to get DDR4 instead of DDR3 but is it compatible?

And also, would you recommend to get a new case for the specs? Would like to keep the CPU, but upgrade the rest and don't know if my case will allow any major changes due to it's size.

No, you won't be able to use DDR4 memory, it's not compatible with motherboards designed for DDR3. I wouldn't go to the expense of a new case unless there's a specific card you need to use that doesn't have the low profile option. Of course most of the GTX 1050 Ti cards are full height...
