I have an Acer chromebook CB3- 531- C4A5 and the wifi does not work on it... no matter how many times I reset my router and turn the wifi on and off on it, it won’t work. however, it says that the wifi is turned on, but no networks pop up. I took the back of my computer off and tried to see if the dual wireless band had been dislodged, and i took it out and then put it back and it still doesn’t work... does anyone have any solutions or should maybe i buy a new wireless dual card?? PLEASE HELP!!!

What exactly happens when you try to connect your Chromebook to wi-fi? Do you get any error message?

Please perform a power wash and check the issue.
A 'Powerwash' is a Factory Reset that is used prior to performing a system recovery. Performing a powerwash will erase all local data.

    Powerwash When Not Signed In
Shutdown the power completely by holding down the power button for 5 seconds
Press the power button to turn the Chromebook on.
Once the Chromebook has finished booting, ensure you do not log in.
On the sign in screen, press the Ctrl + Shift + Alt + R keys simultaneously.

    Powerwash When Signed In
Click on the status area in the lower right corner of your display and click Settings.
Scroll down in the Settings screen until you see 'Show Advanced Settings' and then click on this option.
Scroll down until you see Powerwash. Click on Powerwash. Click on Restart.
Continue and Click Reset. The Chromebook will reboot with a screen that says 'Powerwash in progress...'

After the Powerwash is complete, the Chromebook will reboot.and you will be guided through initial setup.
Let us know the status of the issue. We will be glad to assist u further.

I have already power washed my chromebook, and now in order for me to set it up again i need to connect to a network... the problem is no networks even pop up.... (even my neighbors, which usually do) it shows nothing when i go to connect to wifi... but since i power washed  can’t even log back into my chromebook
  • Make sure that turning off the bluetooth and the access point does not solve the problem!

    What is an access point?
  • The access point turns a notebook or cell phone into a router!

I'm having the same problem.  I'm using another computer because after powerwashing my chromebook I can't use it because the wifi says no network and won't even bring up available ones.

Try this. For a wired connection you may need a Cat 5-to-USB adapter.
The OP's other thread. Too bad that (s)he did not see the 9/20/16 thread.

    Hi rrettawilliams,

Why did you powerwashed your Chromebook and what version O.S. you have installed?

    Thanks,
