10 months of non stop issues with my Nvidia drivers after Windows 10 fall update
I am pretty desperate for help. In December 2017 I managed to get the big Windows 10 to finally load after it failing constantly for about 2 weeks, within one week I started experiencing issues with games freezing and started getting various BSOD errors. The laptop would freeze while it was "fixing" the BSOD and I would have to do a hard restart to get it to boot again. The hard restarts seemed to do more harm and I ended up in endless loops of freezing repairing freezing. I tried to roll back the update but was unable to. I tried to repair it failed. I tried to reset and keep folders and it failed. I then tried to reset and remove all folders and it failed as well. Start up repair - failed. I am not a techie at all but by reading quite a bit on the net I found the DDU uninstalled the Nvidia completely and reloaded the newest version from the Nvidia website and it seemed to sort out the issue. Next update came around in +-February 2018 and I ended up with the same issues. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the drivers but I was struggling to even get the laptop past the start up screen it would crash before giving me login option or it would crash while logging in. We then did a complete format of the laptop hoping that we could load a previous OS that was more stable but you can't. Finally out of desperation we contacted the ACER help desk and was told to load only the drivers from the ACER site. We did that and it worked for about a month and then the freezing and BSOD started again, after the newest windows updates. I have possibly been able to use this laptop for about 30 days for the past 8 months which is completely unacceptable. I need a proper solution as I can not keep formatting the laptop after every Windows update and loading drivers that is over a year old.
This is a Predator 17 with NVIDIA Geforce GTX 970m graphics card. I am not sure what else you need to be able to help.
