N15WS -- Install Windows 10 stops at "Load Driver"

I look after three Aspire R3 (windows 10) netbooks for a local car club.  They use them as part of a results/timing system for their events.

After the summer break I booted all three up and windows suggested to run "Windows 10 April 2018 Update".

The update went OK with two of them (needed to use an external drive to load the upgrade files), however the third must have been interupted somewhere during the process.

This Aspire R3 boots to a window that's asking for an external drive.  I've tried plugging in any of the drives that were used during the upgrade process, but the issue remained.

I then attempted to re-load Windows 10 from scratch.  The install stalls at a "Load Driver"window suggesting I need Acer specific drivers to proceed.

Anyone else had this problem?

Stupid me ... why didn't I think of this sooner.

I created a recovery drive (USB stick) from one of the other N15WSs
