Guys... do NOT install HyperV on your systems for any reason!
It cannot co-exist with any other virtual machine software like VMWare.
Also, once installed it can NEVER be uninstalled. The most you can do is kinda disable it. The services will still be present despite what you do.

Posting this here so you may not be end up with VMWare not working and then posting on here for help.

Thanks for the warning @sri369. You also can always backup your personal data and re-set the machine to a factory-fresh or factory-refresh state to try to get rid of it. A little painful but should work. Some folks have also had success by disabling 64-bit virtualization altogether in the UEFI bootstrapper so 32-bit virtualization can work. Jack E/NJ

Thanks Jack. I do use macrium for regular OS partition image backups. Just feel its a pain to do all that just to uninstall a random piece of software. Hence the post to warn others. This is another case where MS really screwed up stuff.

Agreed. Maybe even an intentional screwup. I guess you could also make a registry backup and try cleansing it. Might be less of a hassle. Maybe not.  :o Jack E/NJ

Registry... i can give that a try... services i have disabled for now, will try to delete services manually. but the craziest part is i don't even know where the ***** program is installed... there is a folder under windows called WinSxS that has a few hyperv folders along with many others, and i surely do not want to delete them and be forced to reinstall/refresh windows. The amount of customization i did to this is crazy - running RUST on high, and a VM using 4 GB RAM actively using 40% of CPU, still had my temps around 60-70 range :-)

Did you try the old Microsoft VPC too?  =)   Jack E/NJ

No... I am more used to VMWare and Virtual Box.

The only reason I installed hyperV was cos macrium (my imaging software) uses hyperv to create a vm out of a backed up image.

I was just curious if the Microsoft VPC worked but VMWare & Oracle didn't. Jack E/NJ
