Why does Nvidia Control Panel only show 3d options and nothing else on the Helios 300?

Nvidia Control Panel only showing 3d options and nothing else underneath. Is this a result of the integrated graphics screwing me over or can I fix this?

Intel GPU governs the laptops display.
Nvidia GPU governs an external display.
There is no way around this u less you have a newer system that allows you to use Nvidia only in the BIOs options.

If you want to adjust the color/brightness/etc of your laptop display, you have to use the Intel Command Center app from the Microsoft store.

If you want to overclock your display... DONT.
You will severely lessen the lifespan of your display IMMEDIATELY and you CANNOT get that lifespan back, even if you remove the overclock.
It's not worth it at all and I've seen tons of displays fry fr even a tiny OC.

    Hi Cobmeister,
I looked on the internet and here's what I found...

I don't think your "problem" is a problem at all but its the nature of your machine.

You have an Acer "Helios" system with an Intel HM175 motherboard which means you have an integrated/built-in Intel Graphics Processor and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card.

You do not have the option in the Nvidia control panel since the Intel driver/graphics processor might be the default processor to handle video scaling. Hence no option in the Nvidia control panel.

In the Nvidia control panel, you should only have 3D and video options. The "display" options for which the scaling is located in the Nvidia control panel is not needed since the Intel driver handles that part at this point.

    Possible Fix...

Go into your BIOS to make sure your laptop is not set to use the onboard integrated Intel graphics processor as default.

Remember: If you are not comfortable going into your BIOS you can always contact Acer support at (866) 695-2237 US and Canada

and they will be happy to help you  B)

    After that is done...

Try downloading GeForce Experience from the Nvidia website and get the latest drivers and updates, then reboot and check again to see if you can make changes to the Nvidia control panel like you want.

    Hope this helps!

Intel GPU is the only hardware controlling the screen.
Switching via BIOs is not an option.
    (Not even on unlocked BIOs)

Under the '3D Settings' options in nVidia Control Panel, you should be able to specify which graphics processor you want to use by default globally. Select your nVidia card.

This is a long shot as well, but I have had a bad HDMI cable make my laptop FORCE Intel to take control of the screen resolution. Everything looked fine, but when I switched cables it went back to my nVidia card as it should. I am on same HM175 with integrated Intel 630 but I have the full nVidia menu as I've selected my 1050 Ti as the default global graphics processor.

EDIT: Just realized, this may only be an option if you are using an external monitor as I am. With the integrated laptop screen, if your card has nVidia Optimus enabled; it will likely switch to Intel like this. You can still run specific programs with the nVidia GPU through the control panel or GeForce Experience as far as I understand.

Pretty normal to only have those options on nvcp on predators (or other gaming laptops) as it's a mobile gpu and they are enough to what's needed like force to use the dedicated graphics either globally or per app and this is not a problem its the same for everyone no exceptions

You mean you want to disable Intel VGA and only use the dedicated GPU?
    Unfortunately it is not possible.
I have tried with an Acer Aspire A717-72G which is very similar to the Predator Helios 300.
Intel+Nvidia VGA is connected with a built in muxer on the motherboard.
You can unlock the Insyde BIOS to access VGA settings however even if you switch it to the NVidia VGA the laptop instead will disable the NVidia VGA and only allow the Intel VGA to work. You can not do anything with this on the BIOS level. In matter of fact if you change the VGA settings as I said you will not be able to disable the Intel VGA, only the NVidia VGA and if you do that the laptop will not send signal to the screen until it loads Windows.

tl;dr: you can not disable the Intel VGA even with an unlocked BIOS and in matter of fact you may even brick your laptop.

    Hi!

To resurrect this post - I have a similar issue.

I want to turn up gamma for video games - most of them are too dark, and many don't have an in-game gamma slider. However, I only have 3d settings under Nvidia control panel.

Any idea how I could fix this?

@lauriso as i already stated above you cant fix it because there is nothing to fix all nvidia mobile gaming laptop gpus have only those options available you will probably get a few more display options if you connect an external monitor via hdmi to change the resolution etc but regarding the internal display those are the only options available on all laptops to have more options only on desktops the mobile gpu drivers only have those nvidia made the drivers this way on purpose for mobile gpus

I just found a solution to this, open the Intel UHD Graphics Control Panel, go to display and set scaling to scale full screen and you are good to go.

chayan_18 Does that makes the missing settings appear in the nvcp that will only appear when you connect an external monitor ?

You helped me so much bro. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. That totally fixes the "stretched in csgo" problem.

For those who cant even acces Intel Graphics Control Panel or install it,you can download and install Intel Graphics Command Center through Microsoft Store. As they say,Command Center is the new Graphics Control Panel. There you can change your settings and set your cs:go to streched.

I bought a external monitor and connected it via displayport to usb C port (I dont have a displayport on my laptop, only usb c). Once connected I opened up nvcp and those settings did  not appear. I have no Idea why. for some reason I can only change the refresh rate and resolution of my new monitor in intel graphics command center. but when I connect my monitor via HDMI those setting pop up in nvcp. very frustrating because my monitor supports G-sync but I cant enable it in nvcp.

KyleG08 thats because the display has to be connected to either hdmi or DP ports  for the nvidia settings t appear as those are the only 2 ports connected directly to the DGPU otherwise will not work also always make sure before you buy any displays that they are compatible for the resolution you want with the ports your laptop has available there is a list of compatible displays supporting up to 240hz via hdmi in the community and an up to date list in the predator fb group
