Aspire V5-571P-6698 Switched to Legacy BIOS & Can't Switch Back

Some months ago, I cracked the screen on my Acer Aspire V5-571P-6698 15.4 touchscreen laptop because of how the plastic frame was coming apart. This caused the touchscreen to go haywire, registering clicks all over the place constantly. I managed to disable the touchscreen to get around this, and the laptop worked fine after that.

However, a recent Windows 10 update (volume 4?) apparently turned the touchscreen back on. Then, either the random clicks selected wrong options or the update just didn't work. I wasn't able to do much to try to fix it because of the touchscreen issue. It would ask to set keyboard languages and then restart to repeat the process. Sometimes I could get it to go to repair screen that would attempt some sort of repair and fail.

I did somehow get into the BIOS. Foolishly in retrospect, I changed it to legacy BIOS just to see if that might disable the touchscreen and allow me to do something.

Now it just goes to "operating system not found" and says there. Hitting F2 to enter setup, as the screen suggests, makes no difference. I can tell it's registering the keyboard because it beeps when you hold a key down for a few seconds, but I can't seem to get back into setup to change back to UEFI. I've tried all sorts of combinations of keys.

Of course, I'm not sure I'd be able to accomplish anything even if I could, given the haywire touchscreen.

I'm annoyed an update made my laptop go from fully functional to completely useless.

Is there anything I might be able to do to least recover the files on my hard drive?

I liked the laptop & have purchased another Acer one, an E5.

I made a USB with Windows 10 & it does seem able to boot from that, but that touchscreen issue makes navigating the menus that come up impossible or nearly so. I'm worried I'm going to accidentally wipe my drive. Because of that, I'm probably going to just pull the hard drive & try to get my files from it.

Please try to disconnect the hard disk and check if can get the BIOS screen. If you get the BIOS screen reset it to default settings, connect the hard disk and check the issue.
If you have any important data, connect the hard disk to another device and backup your data.
