I can't seem to be able to connect my headsets and mic at the same time.

Hey,
I've got a new K30BF-M32BF-A-F-K31BF-6.
I also have a standard headset with a mic built in.
My desktop has separate jacks for audio and mics.
Audio works find but for the life of me I can't find a way to connect my mic.
Even if I use the other jack my mic is unresponsive.
I play online games and it would be nice to chat with my team instead of just typing.
Anyway to fix this of do I need to invest in a gaming headset?
p.s. I never seem to have this problem on my laptop.

Many computers had a kind of privacy settings reset after Microsoft’s April major update. This reset made your apps and programs not able to access your microphone. Therefore, we should give them their access / permission back.
Open Settings from your start menu. Click on Privacy in order to access all your privacy settings.
Select Microphone from the left pane and then click the Change button. Now, turn on microphone for this device. Turn on Allow apps to access your microphone. Finally in the app list, make sure to turn on microphone access for every app you want to give permission to access your microphone.
