Dolby Tray Icon disappeared - Manual launch of DAX2_API doesn't work

I recently bought an Acer Aspire 7 A715-71G-778R and from day 1 I had a dolby inconin system tray to change from preset equalizers for movies, games etc.

I had some audio crackling recently and run the Troubleshoot Problems tool (right click volume icon in system tray -> troubleshoot sound problems), the tool ran for few seconds and exited with "problem solved", now I don't have anymore the Dolby Icon in system tray.

I've tried to disabling and re-enabling dolby from Sounds->Speaker properties https://prnt.sc/k145fl without success, I've also tried to manually launch it but I can't manage to get it back.

No updates are pending and if I disable it from Sounds->Speker properties the quality of sound does change so the Dolby drivere are around there but I just can get the tray icon to show even if it is enabled http://prntscr.com/k146le

Yes, sometimes older drivers work better than the newer ones, hence my suggestion to install the original driver. You have to reinstall the Realtek driver under " Sound video and Game controllers" at the bottom above Storage controllers.

Hi,
Have you tried pinning to Taskbar? If not, give it a try.

Searching Dolby from the start gave me only the Dolby Access app (which is unrelated I saw as it is for headphones etc).

So I see you have the Dolby Audio app and I tried to install it too but I can't, it says Error Code: 0x803FB005

Go to file explorer, C:-> Program Files-> Dolby-> Open folder DAX2_APP, run DAX2Trayicon.exe as Admin.

Also go to Settings, Personalization, click Taskbar in the left pane, click "select which items appear on the taskbar" and check whether Dolby icon is switched on.

I already tried to force turn on the tray icon http://prntscr.com/k146le but it doesn't appear.

Furthermore I don't have that folder, https://prnt.sc/k14nub I have DAX2_API in there only: https://prnt.sc/k14nwq

I notice that I don't have any preview icon in Settings, Personalization, Taskbar, "select which items appear on the taskbar". Might it be that it got corrupted?

What's the driver version you currently have? If it's different from the original from Acer support site, download version 6.0.1.8108 and see whether it helps.

Yeah installing the previous driver brought back to life the dolby equalizer!!
