What type of software did you use to format the blank DVD? Nero, Roxio. etc..
Do you get any error messages when you format the DVD?
Are you able to read a normal disc when inserted in the DVD?
Do you have any other brand or format discs to try?

Just to let you know, DVD+RW discs only need to be manually formatted once when you start using them. There's no need to format it to erase data before burning new. With DVD+R, you should first prepare the disc by formatting it. Formatting the disc will determine its compatibility with various devices.

I insert a new TDK DVD+R disk.  Windows 10 recognizes the disk as being "new" and tries to format it.  IT FAILS TO DO THE ORIGINAL FORMAT.

It shouldn't be trying to format the disc. Standard recordables like that can only be written to once. The means if they are formatted they'll no longer be usable. You can format a read-write but typically you only write a disc image to a recordable.

Folks … I'm missing something.  I Insert a brand new "never used" TDK DVD+R disk … Windows 10 sends me this option...

I like the "Like a USB flash drive" option … so I select "Next".  Windows 10 starts the process and sends me this window

Then the process fails and Windows 10 send me this …

This is the process that always worked on my old machine … but NOT on my brand new Aspire …

So it's thinking the disc is a RW, not a +R. What happens when you cancel the first popup? What are you planning on putting on the disc?
