How can I find the product key for a Window 8.1 device that was upgraded to Windows 10 home?

So I changed motherboards and now my Windows says it needs to be activated. Signing into my Microsoft account does not work. I have tried all the troubleshooting techniques. Windows support recommended I speak with Acer support so that I can find the old Windows 8.1 product key for my device.

It will not be possible to get it again because the product key is attached to the motherboard.

It's actually not strictly speaking on the motherboard, it's stored encrypted in the UEFI BIOS which is stored in a hidden partition on the disk. There are utilities to retrieve it for viewing (Google it) but you'll need the original HD to recover it.
