My VN7-591G is having a lot of trouble reading my external monitor. I'm almost positive it is because the port is basically stripped due to me moving my machine back and forth from my desk to my TV. I had my machine looked at by a local repair place and he didn't sound confident that the fix would be cheap. As of now, I have to shove the HDMI cord as hard as I can into the port to get my laptop to read it. If the cord is moved even a tiny bit, it loses the connection.

it's almost always the HDMI's cable plug that's the problem not the ports themselves. I'd guess one or more of the spring-loaded wire slides inside the plug that's supposed to make pressure contact with the corresponding conductor flats inside the port have weakened. Hopefully your monitor also uses a port so you can just replace the double-plug HDMI cable. Jack E/NJ
