I have an "Aspire E 15 Start (ES1-512-P84G), Windows 8.1 64-bit," and I'm looking to update the graphics driver. Unfortunately, according to Acer's official site (link provided above) for downloading new drivers, the most recent version for my graphics driver is from 2014...from before I even bought the laptop new. I've talked with Intel, and they have a new (generic?) driver that appears to be ready for my system, but when I tried to install it, I got a popup saying that it hasn't been "validated for this computer" (image up that popup provided below.) Essentially, it's as if Acer is holding my laptop hostage in an old, outdated state, simply because they haven't updated their 'drivers page.'

  • Part Number (according to Acer's site): NX.MRWAA.013
  • Everywhere I look, it just tells me that my Video/Graphics Processor is called "Intel HD Graphics." No extra designation is provided.
  • The driver Acer's site says is the newest version for my system: VGA Driver (10.18.10.3574), Date: 2014/11/25
  • The driver I believe ought to be able to be installed, but "hasn't been validated": Intel Graphics Driver for Windows [15.33], Version (15.33.46.4885), Date: January 2, 2018
  • [Edited the thread to add model name to the title]

Download the latest driver available from intel, then go to device manager>display adapter>intel hd graphics and uninstall it. Restart the PC and install the generic driver from Intel.

If a similar problem appears with installing the other drivers, repeat the same process.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.
