Acer Predator X27 monitor doesn't scale games in lower resolution to fill screen while overclocked

The X27 monitor doesn't scale games played at a lower resolution to fill the screen while in overclocked mode.  One of the key reasons I got this monitor was to be able to play games at a lower resolution (e.g. 1920 x 1080) at 144 Hz.  However, the highest framerate I can get at that resolution is 120.  When I try to play the game at that resolution while the monitor is overclocked to 144 Hz the game only takes a tiny portion in the center of the screen rather than scaling to fit the entire screen.  Is there a solution to this issue?
