Hopefully you guys can tell me if I'm flogging a dead machine here.

Its my mums laptop which has all of a sudden booted up with some sorta message along the lines of "### not found" and will now not boot up to even the bios stage.

I suspected a dead HDD so removed the drive and ran check disk on my other desktop machine which found loads of errors. Corrected these and tried again to no avail.

Once pressing the power button, the lights illuminate and the CPU fan spins up but that's all, screen doesn't light up and no other response from anything. Once pushing the power button again the machine turns off in a few seconds.  Motherboard fault?  Its a 2012 model so its seen better days but slightly disappointed as its used a few times a month now due to buying a tablet.

Cheers

First try turning the screen on with the Fn+F6 toggle key combo. If no joy, then try to HDMI out to a TV set. You might have to turn the TV on with the Fn+F5 toggle key combo. If still no joy, the integrated graphics adapter has likely failed. Jack E/NJ
