Brand new system.  Windows 10  (64 bit).  When I connect my laptop to the TV, the screen flashes to black, then back to the screen, and then back again black.  On my son's Dell, this was happening, and google said it was a driver issue.  This is a brand new install, windows 10, all updates are current.  So, what do I need to do?  I see there is a driver site https://www.acer.com/ac/en/CA/content/drivers, but it says After upgrading to Windows 10, if there are any drivers that haven't been installed, please run Windows Update to install the appropriate drivers.

I checked, and all updates are current.

Help anyone?  I got up at 5:30 am to put on a workout video on YouTube and have spent my hour trouble shooting instead :-(

Thaks!

Please uninstall the current driver in device manager and try to install the driver manually.

    Intel Display Driver :  Download

Unzip the file to a designated location or folder.
Open Device Manager, click Yes when prompted for permission from User Account Control.
Expand the section that needs the driver or device with yellow exclamation mark.
Right-click and select Update Driver Software. Click Browse my computer for driver software.
Click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
Click Have Disk. Click Browse and select the directory where the driver files are located.
Click OK, and finally click Next. Drivers are now being installed.
Restart your computer. Connect the HDMI cable to TV and check the external display.

I also learned, today, that if your HDMI cable is connected to your laptop - but you didn't select HDMI on the TV screen to 'shake hands' with the laptop - the laptop screen flickers.   However, once you select the HDMI option on your TV to 'shake hands' with the laptop - the flickering stops.

My boyfriend says "patience... you need to be patient...." LOL!  I missed 2 days of workouts - because I thought there was something wrong with the laptop :-(  Lesson learned :-)

My old ACER didn't do that....
